About TestDaF
- What it is
- The German test for university admission, accepted by all German universities.
- Level
- TDN 3 to 5
- Who needs it
- University applicants. TDN 4 in all four parts counts as proof of German for all degree programmes.
- Who runs it
- g.a.s.t. (TestDaF-Institut) at licensed test centres
- Format
- Four parts: reading about 55 min (digital; 60 min on paper), listening about 40 min, writing about 60 min, speaking about 35 min. Net test time 3 h 15 min. Each part gets TDN 3, 4 or 5; there is no overall score.
- Fee
- Three country groups with different prices. In Germany the digital TestDaF costs €210. Your price shows when you register.
- How to register
- Online in the g.a.s.t. participant portal. Choose a centre and date inside its registration window.
- Results
- Digital TestDaF: about 3 weeks. Paper: usually 6 weeks.
