About PKT Medizin

What it is: The C1 patient communication test (Patientenkommunikationstest) for doctors, dentists and pharmacists, run by FIA.
Level: C1
Who needs it: Doctors. With an EU degree it is recognised in Hamburg and Hesse; in Saarland for all degrees. With a non-EU degree in Hamburg or Hesse you take the state chamber's test instead. Your state's licensing office decides.
Who runs it: FIA (Freiburg International Academy)
Format: Three parts of 20 minutes: a written case report, a talk with a colleague about a patient, and a patient information talk. 30 minutes to prepare parts two and three. Pass mark 60% in every part. In Frankfurt or online.
Fee: €450. It cannot be refunded once a date is agreed.
How to register: Online on the FIA website. You need a B2 German certificate (a copy at registration, the original on the day).
Results: Told right after the test; the C1 certificate is issued the same day. A retake is possible after three weeks.
