About telc Deutsch B2

What it is: telc's general German certificate at level B2.
Level: B2Upper intermediate. You can follow complex texts and talk fluently with native speakers.
Who needs it: Nurses: Bavaria's nursing office, for example, asks for B2 before it issues the licence. It accepts Goethe, telc, ÖSD and TestDaF certificates, and ECL for exams from December 2020. Doctors: B2 general German is the entry requirement for the C1 medical language test. German-taught university degrees usually need more than B2: DSH-2 or TestDaF with TDN 4 in all four parts.
Who runs it: A licensed telc exam centre (telc gGmbH sets the exam)
Format: Written: reading and language elements 90 min, listening about 20 min, writing 30 min. Speaking about 15 min in pairs, with 20 min to prepare. Digital, hybrid or paper.
Fee: Set by the exam centre. telc does not publish one fee.
How to register: Directly with the exam centre, which sets its own registration rules.
Seats: telc does not publish seat counts.
Results: Usually 4 to 6 weeks. Ask the institution that will receive your certificate whether it accepts older certificates.
Study time: Typical guidance: 600 to 800 lessons of 45 minutes (Goethe).
