About Goethe-Zertifikat B2

What it is: The Goethe-Institut's German certificate at level B2.
Level: B2Upper intermediate. You can follow complex texts and talk fluently with native speakers.
Who needs it: Nurses: Bavaria's nursing office, for example, asks for B2 before it issues the licence. It accepts Goethe, telc, ÖSD and TestDaF certificates, and ECL for exams from December 2020. Doctors: B2 general German is the entry requirement for the C1 medical language test. German-taught university degrees usually need more than B2: DSH-2 or TestDaF with TDN 4 in all four parts.
Who runs it: Goethe-Institut and its licensed partner centres
Format: Four modules: reading 65 min, listening about 40 min, writing 75 min, speaking about 15 min in pairs. You can take modules separately or together. Pass mark 60% per module.
How to register: Through the Goethe-Institut webshop of this centre. Booking opens on the date shown and closes at the deadline shown.
Seats: Goethe does not publish seat counts.
Results: Your Goethe centre tells you when results are published. The certificate has no expiry date. The receiving office may ask for a recent one.
Study time: Typical guidance: 600 to 800 lessons of 45 minutes (Goethe).
